Our Wound Care & Hyperbaric Centers, managed by Healogics®, provide specialized treatment for chronic or nonhealing wounds. Any wound that does not respond to normal medical care within 30 days is considered a problem or chronic wound. That's where our expertise can help.
With state-of-the-art treatments available, including debridement, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, dressing selection, special shoes and patient education, people with nonhealing and chronic wounds have a place to turn. Our Centers use an interdisciplinary model of care, including infectious-disease management, physical therapy, occupational therapy, laboratory evaluation, nutritional management, pain management, diabetic education and radiology testing to address total patient health. In addition, the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been proven effective in reducing swelling, fighting infection and building new blood vessels to produce healthy tissue.
Nonhealing wounds occur most frequently in the elderly and in people with diabetes. Almost 24 million Americans are diabetic, and 6.5 million of them are estimated to live with chronic wounds. Leesburg Regional Medical Center and The Villages Regional Hospital have partnered with Healogics®, the world's largest wound care management company, to deliver excellent evidence based care to patients with chronic wounds in Lake, Sumter and Marion counties. Healogics® Centers traditionally achieve excellent clinical outcomes, including high limb salvage rates, a 92 percent healing rate within 31 days to heal and extremely high patient satisfaction.
Our Wound Care Centers hold the area's largest individual hyperbaric oxygen chambers and the attending multidisciplinary team includes physicians with advanced training in wound management, nurses, technicians, and experience staff to assist with appointments and health insurance processing. The Centers are designed to compliment your physicians' services and provide personalized wound treatment programs for each patient who comes through our doors.
