Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Pulmonary Rehabilitation is an important part of quality care for patients with chronic respiratory disease. It has changed in response to the increasing number of patients with chronic respiratory diseases. Its purpose is to alleviate patients’ symptoms, optimize their daily function, and improve their disability from chronic respiratory disease.

The essential components of pulmonary rehabilitation include: assessment, patient education and training, therapeutic and supervised exercise, psychosocial intervention, long-term adherence, outcomes, and prevention.

Entry to the program requires: Referral from an in-state physician, a qualifying Pulmonary Function Test done within the last year, and a Medicare accepted medical diagnosis.

Length of Program

A maximum of 18 sessions. Sessions are 1½ to 2 hours long.
