Volunteering

The Villages Health System Auxiliary President Message

When our hospital opened in 2002, 300 volunteers appeared on our doorstep and the number has been growing ever since. We now have over 700 volunteers serving more than 20 departments, including:

  • Café
  • Catheterization Lab
  • East Campus Information
  • Emergency Department
  • Express Admit
  • Front Desk
  • Gift Shop & Ye Olde Thrift Shoppe
  • Health Information Services
  • Human Resources
  • Intensive Care Unit
  • Infection Control
  • Infusion
  • Materials Management
  • Outpatient Services
  • Outside Transport & Patient Transport
  • Patient Care
  • Pharmacy
  • Post-Anesthesia Care Unit
  • Surgery Waiting Room

We also have a Fund Raising Committee for special events, which works to raise funds for a "wish list." This includes many things that would improve services for the patients and lighten the work load for team members. All money raised is given back to the hospital. We recently purchased Digital X-ray equipment and a Bronchoscope to help with patient diagnosis.

Our dedicated volunteers fill many of the hospital’s needs. They make patients feel more comfortable and brighten the already beautiful environment we have here at The Villages Health System. It is our hope to ease the pressure on the dedicated team of physicians, nurses and techs who work so hard to bring comfort to everyone.

Considering becoming an Auxilian? We are always looking for new volunteers. Applications are available in the Day Captain’s Office located in the hospital. For further information on how to volunteer, please call (352) 751-8622.
